Teen Counseling

Being a teen is hard.

Generational patterns are causing a shift in family dynamics with the expectations that are in place for teens and young adults to “leave the nest” and start their own life.

Young adults may not possess the self-esteem needed to launch into the world. Maybe they have no drive to get a job, attend college, or stop playing that video game all day.

Teens and young adults require a different type of therapeutic approach to allow them the opportunity to achieve their full potential.

One of the other crucial components to a young adult’s success is co-parenting therapy to ensure the parents are also provided with the tools, boundaries, and assistance they need to help their child launch into becoming a full independent individual.

I pride myself in the level of connection I can establish with many teens and young adults to get their buy-in into the therapeutic process.

You can expect guidance to help you in setting boundaries, expectations, and rules with your teen while also receiving the benefits of your teen being in therapy.

How teen therapy would work

Upon booking an initial session, I also schedule a session with the parent/parents to gain a full understanding of what is taking place before we begin to meet with your child. After the initial session with you, I begin working with your child on an individual basis.

I check in with you on an “as needed” basis. If you feel the desire to get into contact with me before that time comes, just reach out.

I will be happy to set up a consultation and provide you with an update without violating the client confidentiality. I really like to create a sense of autonomy for your teen/young adult and, therefore, try and keep the information they share as private as possible. Of course, I will reach out if concern of any kind arises.

Take the step to ensure your child’s successful launch.
